Meet Abbie Rosenberg – Founder of the Sharon Timlin Memorial Event
Originally published by The Angel Fund and The Sharon Timlin Memorial Event: A Race to Cure ALS.

More than two decades ago, Abbie Rosenberg joined forces with Mike Timlin and his family to help The Angel Fund fulfill its mission: finding a cure for ALS. Together, they created the Sharon Timlin Memorial 5K Race & Family Fun Day – held each June in Hopkinton, MA – in loving memory of Mike’s mom, Sharon, who lost her battle with ALS in 2022. Year after year, the Timlin family and friends, and Boston Red Sox players came to Hopkinton to run, rally, and raise money to strike out ALS.
That race is still going strong, and so is Abbie.
Today, Abbie brings that same passion and commitment to a new cause: Mental Health Collaborative (MHC), the nonprofit she founded after losing a former patient to suicide. What began as a personal mission has grown into a leading national organization in mental health education – educating students, parents, caregivers, educators, and athletic coaches in schools and organizations nationwide. MHC equips people with the knowledge, language, and tools they need to better understand mental health, promote mental health, and know when, where, and how to access treatment.
It’s a story that began at Fenway Park, where Mike Timlin took the mound for the Boston Red Sox and moved to the streets of Hopkinton, where Abbie channeled that Red Sox spirit into the Sharon Timlin Memorial 5K. Now, more than two decades later, the story comes full circle. This May, during Mental Health Awareness Month, Mental Health Collaborative is partnering with the Boston Red Sox through their Change Up The Conversation initiative to bring Abbie back to Fenway Park, where it all began. MHC will be featured at Fenway throughout May, and on gameday May 13th, carrying forward the same commitment to community and impact that has defined Abbie’s work from the very start.
For those in our Angel Fund family who have cheered at the starting line in Hopkinton, this is a beautiful continuation of a story you already know; one defined by community, courage, and an unwillingness to look away from the hard balls life throws our way.
Join us in celebrating Abbie and her newest endeavor this May by following Mental Health Collaborative and lace up your sneakers for the Sharon Timlin Memorial 5K on June 13th!
