Mental Health Awareness Month Trainer Spotlight: Arti Kumar-Jain

Each week this month, we’ll introduce you to one of the skilled professionals who deliver our Mental Health Essentials programs in schools, workplaces, organizations, and communities. We’ll continue these spotlights beyond May to highlight the people who bring our mission to life and the meaningful impact they make daily.

Trainer Spotlight: Arti Kumar-Jain, Clinical Trainer NCC, PhD Candidate, MCHC, M.Ed

Tell us a bit about you: I have been a trainer with Mental Health Collaborative (MHC) for 2.5 years and love it so much! I am passionate about mental health literacy, reducing stigma, and the mission and work of MHC. I am a Mental Health Therapist with a private practice looking at integrative health and providing therapeutic services to children, youth, families, and adults. I also run a small non-profit that collaborates with community agencies and national partners to look at access to care through the coaching modality.

What made you want to become a trainer with MHC? I found MHC on a Google search with interest in mental health awareness. After looking at the website, I instantly emailed to find out how to become involved. The mission statement and the work involved is amazing!

How do MHC programs stand out in your opinion? The Mental Health Essentials (MHE) programs are evidenced-based and customized to meet the needs of those who participate. From the MHE for Coaches training to the MHE for Educators training to the MHE for Parents & Caregivers program, there is something for each population. Everyone can take something away from these programs!

Can you share an impactful moment from a program you’ve done recently? We recently received a testimonial about how the MHE for Educators program helped someone to access and want to reach out for help. It highlighted the power of education and advocacy: “I have struggled and am still struggling, but I feel better that I’m not the only one. Very helpful, thank you!”

Who is your favorite audience to train and why? I love working with all audiences and each experience I have had and will get to have with MHC. Every group has been so receptive and engaged in mental health literacy and raising awareness!
